Editor-in-Chief: "Our new issue, Control of Infection and Contamination, ends the year 2007, and wraps up the proceedings of the Budapest Congress"
Editor-in-Chief: "Proper control of infection and contamination improves safety in healthcare" In 2007 Clinical Window’s educational program succeeded well, and we organized three scientific symposia at major medical congresses. It is worth mentioning that both at ESA in Munich and at ESICM in Berlin over 300 clinicians were in attendance. In 2008, Clinical Window plans to organize four symposia. The next one is soon, at the World Congress of Anesthesiology. Scroll down to the bottom of our home page to see our complete list of upcoming Clinical Window symposia. In the current issue, Clinical Window writes about control of infection and contamination in healthcare. It has been suggested that proper use of supplies and accessories plays an important role in infection control throughout the hospital. Hence, by providing tailored solutions according to care area and need, it is possible to help clinicians to improve patient safety. Author of our leading article Dr. McCaughey, PhD (New York, USA) is a health policy expert who has won many prizes for her writings, lectures widely, and appears frequently on television and radio. She is founder and Chairman of the Committee to Reduce Infection Deaths (www.hospitalinfection.org). In addition to the article, she was invited speaker in Budapest at the 8th Congress of the International Federation of Infection Control (IFIC), and had a presentation at the GE sponsored Infection Control symposium. IFIC is an umbrella organization of societies and associations of healthcare professionals in infection control and related fields worldwide. Its goal is to minimize the risk of infection within the healthcare setting worldwide through development of a network of infection control organizations for communication, consensus building, education and sharing expertise. I would like to invite you give me feedback on any aspect you wish. You are also most welcome to suggest articles or topics for publication, or submit your text for assessment by our advisory board. At Clinical Window, we want to be accessible to our audience. We look
forward to meeting our readers at the World Congress of Anaesthesiology
in Cape Town. Ilkka Kalli MD, PhD, MBA
