Expanding Clinical Scope: Neonatal Intensive Care

Editor: In its 25th issue Clinical Window (CW) extends its scope to neonatal intensive care units (NICU), with a topic: "Early Health and Neonatal Care".
CW has been collaborating with the NICU professionals' international web site that is closely linked to Karolinska University Hospital In Stockholm, Sweden. I am extremely happy to publish clinical articles "99nicu" team has prepared for Clinical Window. Here I publish three papers, and more NICU related articles will appear in the coming issues.

In summer, we published Airway Suction and Lung Spirometry (#24). There was a clinical paper by B. Almgren PhD on Airway Suction, (plus her popular CW presentation slides from ISICEM). In addition, inventor of Spriodynamics, prof Ola Stenqvist (Gothenburg) had prepared for CW his article on Alveolar P/V curves and regional lung mechanics - and there is more. Our tenth symposium in Copenhagen was really a "jubilee", as we had over 400 clinicians in the audience. Proceedings will appear on the web this autumn - thanks to speakers, I have got copies of their presentations, and I am editing them for publication - IK/Ed.

9th Clinical Window: "Infection control in mechanical ventilation"
We made it again as part of the ISICEM scientific program in Brussels (March 2008) and we had a packed room of over 150 participants.
Thanks to our two speakers who made this an excellent educational seminar on Noninvasive ventilation, infection control and proper means to suction our high demanding intensive care patients. Active discussions. Excellent to meet so many health care professionals, your feed-back is always appreciated. - IK/Ed.
